The Olympic hockey tournament will be played in two phases: a preliminary round and a final round. From Feb. 7 to Feb. 10, eight teams will each play three games. Austria, Italy, Kazakhstan and Slovakia will compete in Group A, while Group B will consist of Belarus, France, Germany and Japan. The winners of Group A and B will advance to the final round.

Beginning February 13, the eight teams in the final round will each play three games to determine seedings for the quarterfinals.

Single-game playoffs will determine the winners of the quarterfinals, semifinals and gold medal match.

All Olympic contests will be televised in the United States by CBS. Times to be announced.
