Winner: Zigmund Palffy, New York Islanders
Ziggy Palffy was named this week's POW cause he is cool. Well not JUST because he is cool, but also because he had five goals and two assists in three games. But being cool really helps a lot.
Anyhow, Palffy led the Islanders to three wins to move them within one point of the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Of course that was of Sunday, and it's like, um...not Sunday anymore, so you better check to see what the real story is. The playoff race stands still for no one.
Ziggy was held scoreless Wednesday night in Buffalo as the Isles won 3-2 but rebounded with two goals and an assist the next night in Boston on way to a 6-3 victory. Boston came to the Island Saturday night for a rematch, but Palffy got medieval on their ass as he recorded a hat trick in the 8-3 win.
Palffy is the league's 9th leading scorer with 84 points, and also ranks 7th in goal scoring with 44. Ziggy's 44 goals breaks his personal all-time high of 43 he set last season. In other Islander news, newly-added Robert Reichel has paid off big for the Isles, recording three goals and 12 points in his first five games.

This season, the Whalers Team Bus leads all team buses in miles per gallon (73), traffic stops (43), and distance traveled with 864,534 miles under its belt. However, the Whalers Team Bus was fined $7,500 when it was discovered the muffler was held on with a hanger and duct tape. Mechanical problems aside, the Whalers Team Bus does sport a full service bar and shows porno flicks on Fridays.
