Hooked on Phonics

With the 2006-07 season underway, the NHL was kind enough to provide LCS with a pronunciation guide to make sure we're saying everybody's name properly. Reading it proved quite enlightening.

For instance, Alex Tanguay apparently prefers his name to be pronounced "TAN-gay," as opposed to the more frequently heard "TANG-ay." Dion Phaneuf's name is "phan-NUFF," and not "pha-NUFF." So even though there's only one "n," you hit it twice. Interesting. And Kirk Maltby's name, despite its spelling, is actually pronounced "DOOSH-bag."
