Fleury Returning To The Ice?
by Jim Iovino, Ace Reporter
Is Theo Fleury making a return to hockey?
Fleury, the diminutive hockey hero and owner of the official concrete coating company of LCS Hockey, recently told the Calgary Sun he's thinking about lacing up the skates to play for the Bentley Generals Senior AAA team.
The team apparently plays in the Chinook Hockey League, which touts itself as the "longest existing senior hockey league in Alberta and second in Canada."
The Generals lost to the Brantford Blast in the finals last season.
Why is Fleury, now 40, thinking about another season on ice? The Sun reported that his former German league teammate Curtis Huppe moved to Calgary to work with Fleury at his concrete business and was invited to play with the Generals.
"I thought about bringing a whole line," Fleury quipped. Seems Fleury would also like to get his brother Ted back on the ice. Ted played junior hockey.
Fleury played in the Senior AAA league back in '05. This summer he's also tried his luck at minor league baseball, making an appearance for the Calgary Vipers. He stroked a single in his first plate appearance. He's also started a clothing company.
Here's a clip of Theo living it up while playing over in Germany: some goals, some assists, some fights, some yapping ... and a guy in a gorilla suit dancing to Salt n Peppa's "What A Man." Good times!
