Ice-olations: Where's Teemu?
by Jim Iovino, Ace Reporter
Besides Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg and Mats Sundin, there was another high-profile veteran out there this summer who was also unsure about his future: Teemu Selanne.
Selanne returned to the Ducks last season in late January and scored 23 points in 26 games. But after the season he decided to sit on a decision to return yet again.
The Finnish superstar is an unrestricted free agent, so he can sign with anyone, but the Ducks are definitely interested.
Anaheim general manager Brian Burke on Wednesday told radio station KLAC 570 that Selanne is either on his way back or just came back to California from Finland.
"We're kind of at the mercy of when he decides or if he decides to play, and then we have to see if we can do something financially," Burke told the radio station. "Right now we're over the (salary) cap and we're trying to figure out a way around that. But certainly we're interested."
The salary cap issue is definitely a sticking point for the Ducks. They would like to move some players to free up space, such as Mathieu Schneider, who they inexplicably signed last off-season to a two-year, $11.25 million contract when he was 38 years old.
But Burke said that he can't move anyone because of ... Mats Sundin.
Yeah, that Mats Sundin.
The big Swede is still trying to decide if he wants to play again in the league, and if so, where.
"What that's doing is it's holding up a bunch of other deals," Burke told the radio station. "There are seven teams that are trying to sign Mats Sundin. That's my information from the agent."
Burke said the teams have all offered in the range of $5-10 million per year on one- or two-year deals.
"If he decides to go to, you know, the New York Rangers, then six teams are sitting there with cap room and positional needs," he said. "Whether there's then a fit for one of our guys or not, I don't know. I would guess that there will be some movement after that."
So whenever Sundin makes a decision, expect some other NHL deals to go down.
Fun With YouTubeIf you missed Jhoon Rhee's commercials when they hit the air, you missed out on something special.
But if you're in the D.C. area, you can still check out some great 30-second spots on the boob tube.
Need an example? How about Eastern Motors. The jingle is perhaps the catchiest on TV. And the acting by the likes of Clinton Portis, Ray Lewis and LaVar Arrington? Perhaps some of the worst on TV. Ever.
Here are a few examples. And remember ... "400 Chevy, Beamers and minivans ... over 600 cars, trucks, SUVs ... are you listening man???"
Now with John Witherspoon!!! Damn, Smokey!!!

Remember, there's still time to join the LCS Hockey Facebook group.
There's not a whole lot going on now because there's not much to talk about in the NHL, but sign up now and you can stalk Sean Leahy like the rest of us.
Well, at least like Larry Fairish, that is.
